Bantam Chef of Walhalla, a beloved fast food gem located at 113 W Main St, Walhalla, SC, has been drawing locals and travelers alike for over 37 years with its delectable offerings. Renowned for its juicy hamburger specials, the restaurant encapsulates the essence of comfort food. Customers rave about the hot, crispy fries and delightful coleslaw that perfectly complement the burgers. Ashley Weaver's experience highlighted the welcoming service and the refreshing house-made sweet tea, solidifying the eatery as a must-visit on any road trip. Though the drive-through often sees a line of eager patrons, as Brian D points out, the wait is well worth it for the flavorful hamburger steaks generously dressed with cheese, gravy, and grilled onions. The corn nuggets and sweet potato fries also receive high praise, making it clear that every dish is crafted with care. However, many customers express a desire for a more spacious dining environment, as the limited indoor seating can be a drawback. Despite this, the friendly employees and quality food continue to make Bantam Chef of Walhalla a cherished spot. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime fan, the delightful flavors and warm service promise a memorable meal.Photos

Reviews for Bantam Chef of Walhalla
Review highlights
Based on 674 reviewsBantam Chef of Walhalla is widely appreciated for its consistently flavorful fast food offerings, especially its signature hamburgers and house-made sides like coleslaw and sweet tea. Customers frequently note the quality and taste of the food as a strong point, describing it as both satisfying and worth the occasional wait. The restaurant predominantly operates as a drive-through, which, despite long lines, is managed efficiently by friendly and hard-working staff. While the facility itself is modest and lacks dine-in options, there is community interest in expanding to a comfortable indoor seating area. Overall, Bantam Chef maintains a longstanding reputation for great food, fair pricing, and dedicated employees, contributing to its enduring local popularity.
We were driving through the town on a road trip and wanted a quick lunch! We saw the line of cars and knew it had to be good! The waitress was super nice and I ordered her favorite the hamburger special! The burger was hot and juicy and the toppings and mayo were perfect! Fries hot and crisp and the coleslaw was a nice way to round out the meal! House made sweet tea also hit the spot! Will definitely stop here if we are ever in the area again!
Food was great. Hamburger steaks take 20 min to cook, but we waited 30 minutes in the drive through from the time the employee took our order (she walked down the line of cars, so you order well in advance of getting to the window). Very, very tasty and well worth the wait! There is a reason it is by far the longest wait in Walhalla! Lobby was closed, so it was drive through only, though there are only probably about 8 seats inside anyway. Got the hamburger steaks covered in cheese, brown gravy, and grilled onions and they are amazing. Sides that our family got included corn nuggets (hot and crispy), sweet potato fries (also excellent), and mac and cheese bites (they were alright, but only thing I probably wouldn't get again).
It's geared for drive through. Always a line of cars but they serve you quickly. It's not much to look at but the food is good. People are friendly.
Favorite place to eat. Needs a new building built where people can dine in. Employees always works hard. They deserve to be in the AC.
THIS PLACE HAS HAD WONDERFUL FOOD FOR THE LAST 37 YEARS . I ACTUALLY WORKED THERE 37 YEARS AGO AND THEY HAVE ALWAYS HAD GREAT FOOD, GREAT PRICES AND GREAT WORKERS
They are always a pleasure to do business with. Every time I get to walhalla got to get that double cheeseburger from Bantem. Always delicious and nice to eat. People always nice walk out and take orders. It's worth the wait depending what time it is.
You wouldn’t know it by looking at it but this place has the best cheeseburgers in town! The plate comes with fries and slaw, I chose all fries and they were perfectly crisp and hot. Note: I heard the slaw is good. I also ordered the fried mushrooms and contrary to a previous review, they were quite tasty and not greasy. (may just be a personal preference). The line was long, which is what drew us to the place, but a young lady came out and took our order. It was very efficient and the staff was so friendly! We will definitely be back! It was worth the wait. If you don’t wish to wait try going at a time other than the lunch rush.
The cheeseburgers are still the best ever. And the milkshakes are to dye for. When i started driving i come to bantum chef it wa s what i worked for all week. A treat.!!! It was too.
